How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers are gel-like injectables that restore volume, smooth lines, and enhance facial contours by adding support beneath the skin (some types also attract water or stimulate collagen).

Everything you need to know about Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable gels placed under the skin to restore lost volume, soften wrinkles, and improve facial shape in areas like the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth.
Many fillers are hyaluronic acid (HA) based, a substance that naturally occurs in the body and is known for binding water, which helps create a smooth, hydrated look.
Other filler types are “biostimulatory,” meaning they encourage your skin to produce more collagen over time for gradual improvement.

Fillers work mainly by physically adding structure and volume where it’s needed, which can lift, contour, and reduce the appearance of lines.
HA fillers can also attract and hold water, creating a plumper effect and improving hydration in the treated area.
Some fillers stimulate collagen production, supporting longer-term skin quality improvements even as the product is naturally broken down by the body.

Dermal fillers can be a fit if you want a non-surgical way to add volume, define features, or soften lines with results that look natural when tailored to your face.
Longevity varies by filler type and treatment area (commonly around 6–18 months for many HA fillers, while some biostimulatory options can last longer).
A consultation is important to choose the best product and placement based on your goals, anatomy, and desired level of enhancement.
